Question by …: Is there a store that sells textbooks or lets you read them there?
I bought the wrong edition of my textbook and I cant afford to buy the newer edition. The chapters are pretty much the same except I have to turn in end of chapter questions at the end of the semester, and the questions in my book aren’t the questions asked. Is there a major store that sells textbooks that I can look at inside so I cant write down a couple questions and not have to buy it? Do college bookstores let you sit down and read?
i already searched my school library and my countys library. no luck
im trying to get another person to write me the questions but its an online class so its not like i can turn to my right and ask to see their book

They’re definitely not going to let you crack it open there, but usually the publisher will make available a supplement. Look at their website.

Question by NicK: Ethics. Selling Textbooks. I feel sad …?
I an a student and I have very little money. What I have lots of are textbooks. From my past semesters that the University cant buy back because editions have changed. I want to get rid of them. From the last 4-5 years I have collected about 30-40 academic textbooks. I have a bookshelf in my room. I don’t want to trick people.
I advertise in the local classifieds and people contact me and I sell them text books That I know are useless in class. I mean they are going to have to buy new ones when school starts in fall. I basically take the money and run. This is leaving me with a heavy conscience.
I need the money to buy textbooks for me and my girlfriend. I also will also need it for rent and gas and other supplies. Times are hard and its a dog eat dog world. But I want to be humane. Please advice.
For example. I sold couple textbooks to a 16year old kid and his mom who just finished high school. I felt like I just cheated that poor family. I’m a senior in university and I felt like I cant see that kid in the eye ever again.
I also sold another one to a 17yr old kid that came to buy with his dad. I practically talked my way out and sold his some crap.

As long as you indicate in your ad what edition the textbook is, then the person buying the book is responsible for knowing what edition he needs. Even if you are sneaky and do not indicate the edition, the person buying should be intelligent enough to make sure they get the right book.
So, don’t feel bad. The onus is on the buyer to know what to ask for.
Cheers.

Answer by roxxxie82
You gotta open up an account on Ebay. Second you must open one on Paypal. (that’s where the money gets deposited from the stuff you sell. It’s usually linked to your bank account) Setting up a Paypal account take about 3 days. They gotta verify some stuff with your bank. Their legit though. After that, you list the itme for sale on Ebay. You can either have them bid on it. Or buy it at a flat rate you desired.

Question by Mindy!: Selling textbooks on Amazon?
I posted this somewhere else but I wasn’t getting any answers so I posted it here. If there is a better place to ask it please inform me.
I sold a textbook on Amazon last summer. I wrapped it up VERY well, to the point where it seems nearly impoosible for it to have arrived damaged. A few weks later the buyer issued got a refund (At the time I was using my brothers account, with his permission of course, and my brother apparently either my brother gave the refund or the guy could do it himself, I do not know.) The buyer claimed he never got the book, said it probably got damaged during delivery. I feel I was scammed by the buyer. I was very upset upong finding out. My mom was also displeased and she actually ended up talking to the post office lady who mailed it and the UPS guy who delivered a textbook to me. They both thought that if the book was well wrapped like we described it was then it should have arrived in good condition. (The other books I sold did end up being delivered to the buyer in perfect condition as the buyers have rated.) That was the first time I ever sold textbooks online. What can I do to prevent this from happening to me again? I would have tried selling them online a couple weeks ago but I am very hesitant because of what happened last time. I keep thinking that if I ever sell a textbook online again I will NEVER sell it to a guy (this was a guy who bought the book.) because somehow I think that females are more trustworthy. What can I do to prevent this from happening again?
