Question by Icy170: What is the best site for selling back your textbooks? Who pays the most and is reliable?

Answer by J. Scott
I always find the best one for buying, or for selling back is http:///www.bigwords.com And I totally agree that you should avoid the campus bookstore. The campus bookstores screw you twice. They charge too much for the books initially, and then they give you very little back when you sell to them. Bigwords.com is a textbook search engine that searches all the online textbook retailers and rental sites to find you the best prices. And at the end of the semester you can use them to search for resellers to sell your book to. All the search results are organized by price so you can buy your books for the lowest prices and sell them back for the highest.

www.sbcc.edu The Campus Bookstore provides necessary text and school supplies for an enrollment of more than 17000 students. In addition, the store offers a wide range of discretionary items, including clothing, art supplies, general and best selling books, and software sales. The current text list may be browsed or textbooks may be purchased online at www.sbccbooks.com. The store also offers a range of services to the campus community in the form of an ATM, UPS service, and fax.

# 1 recommendation: http://www.UsedBookBuySell.com
Usedbookbuysell.com operates a book exchange program that allows you to post a book fast and free. The advantages of this website are that you do not need to register, login in order to post and the transaction is completely free. They do not charge you any listing or transaction fee compared to 18-20% commission in Amazon or eBay.
Your listing is password protected and you can run it until it sells. EBay charges listing fee for number of days and for minimum/buy out prices. Amazon charges an outrageous 18% transaction fee. Also, unlike other book exchange websites, UBBS doesn’t display your email address as seller, so your contact information is completely private. Once you get an offer from a buyer it is up to you to determine how and when you would like to respond. What this means is that students are able to offer the books at lower price as they don’t need to incur high listing fees and transaction costs. You can most certainly save big by purchasing textbooks that other students have put up for sale on usedbookbuysell.com
UsedBookBuySell.com is a great choice when it comes to buying and selling textbooks fast and free. Common marketplace websites also collect your private information through account registration and transaction platform. UsedBookBuySell.com adheres to high privacy standard by not having the posters to sign up for an account.
The posting process is extremely easy and you will get to select a password which you will need to edit or delete your postings. In other sites, you will need to go through lengthy sign in procedures to get to your listings.
Buying Used Books
Buying used textbooks is one of the best ways to save money; however, be aware that professors may use a different edition or textbook from year to year. For example, the professor may use a new edition that has a special new chapter or corrections to some of the answers at the back of the textbook. New pagination in a newer edition of a textbook can make it difficult for you to follow lectures. It is up to you to decide whether the risk is worth the financial reward.
Besides UsedBookBuySell.com, the following sites are also recommended for buying textbooks:

Textbook Buyback: A Transition From The Bookstore To Online Services, Saving Students More Than 50%
Goodbye, Bookstore
You know the last thing you want to do after finals is go to the campus bookstore and try to get back a fraction of what you paid for your textbooks. You could wait until the beginning of the next semester. Isn’t that a thrilling idea?
Maybe it’s better at the beginning of the semester. At least then you’ve a got a little bit of energy. It’s at the end of the semester when you’re dead tired that it’s the worst. You’ve bled out everything in your brain, you haven’t slept for days and now you just want to get rid of the books you didn’t even use, but you have to stand in line with them weighing you down just to get back a few pennies. Sometimes it seems easier just to throw them in the dumpster.
But, it’s a money thing. You paid all the incredibly high prices for them at the beginning of the semester, so now you want a little back. I do. And, excuse me if I repeat myself, but it is just a little. What a scam these guys are running. The economy sucks and they demand we rent these books for the pleasure of a massive credit card debt and then we try to get maybe ten percent of the value back. I’m not playing the game anymore. I’m going to sell textbooks for cash online.
I’m not talking about a swap site or an auction site. Swap sites are way too hit or miss. Somebody has to look in just the right category at the right time. If you succeed in making the internet connect, you’ve still got to get the money and make the physical connection. Auction sites aren’t exactly the quickest way either. The best way is to find a site dedicated to do a textbook buyback. It’s a guaranteed market to sell used college textbooks.
If you want cash for textbooks, the site to use is www.LRLBooks.com. I go to the site, type in the ISBN numbers and they give me a quote. What they say they’ll pay is what they’ll pay. No hassle. All I have to do is pack the books, ship them and wait for the money. They even pay the shipping by giving you a shipping label. No trip to the bookstore, better prices and a fast payment. You won’t see me at the bookstore.
